Tom Clancy's The Division
With a star studded cast, a single player campaign in addition to the MMORPG, and an ever ballooning budget, Star Citizen might seem too good to be true. Let's hope that it isn't. Borrowing a few pages from Destiny, The Division uses a disease-ridden Manhattan as the backdrop for a hybrid shooter with RPG elements that you'll play online with friends or strangers—just be sure you can trust them.
After entering the ominous Dark Zone, you'll likely run into other groups of players and whether you decide to slaughter or help them is up to you. Just be sure you can trust the people you're fighting alongside as they might put a gun to your head once it's all over.
Following last year's rather lackluster expansion, World of Warcraft is in the middle of a "make or break" moment with a lot of people wondering if the granddaddy of MMORPGs is starting to see its dying days. Enter Legion, an expansion that is going to need to prove that World of Warcraft has a long future ahead of it, and Blizzard is going to have to whip up some enchanting new tricks in order to make it happen.
Allowing players to finally don the mantle of Demon Hunter is a good start. This new class will allow players to tap into their demonic side to do battle against the Burning Legion. Along with the new artifact weapon system, which allows you to tailor the most iconic weapons in the game to your personal tastes, and a new continent to explore, there's more than enough reasons to be hopeful that World of Warcraft's next chapter will be the best yet.
Despite the silence surrounding Everquest Next since its developer was sold and rebranded as Daybreak Game Company, there's still hope that this evolution of the classic Everquest series will be making its way to us in Like it's name implies, Everquest Next aspires to be the next step in the genre by combining familiar elements in a world that can be, quite literally, shaped by the players. Like Minecraft, Everquest Next's landscape can be built upon or dug into, opening up access to new areas and allowing players a huge level of freedom in how they play.
Whole cities can be destroyed, new ones built, and player stories forged or lost in the rise and fall of virtual kingdoms. I can't talk highly enough about my time with the original EverQuest but unfortunately most WoW fans don't even know the game exists!
I tried to find a nice balance between quality and similarities so there was something here for everyone which is never something easy.
Thanks for the comment. I knew Rift had gone free but didn't know about the others, the cost originally kept them out of this list so it's definitely time to get some game time in with them and re-arrange my list.
Great lens, but in all fairness Everquest II is the sequel to a game that came out way before World of Warcraft. I highly recommend Neverwinter and The Secret World. EverQuest came out years before WoW too 1 not 2. But, that's neither here nor there. I'm guessing this lens is more about similarities over quality of the games? Rift is a great one, just like WoW, but its free They make their money by making you pay in gems for certain game experiences. Like if you want more bag space.
I also think Rift is more user friendly, like it will tell you for talent points, which is the best route to go for most damage etc. Developers need to get off their butts though and do something. If you want a more mature game go for Age of Conan. If you want a really populated game then go for World of Warcraft. Go to guild wars: Free is always better than paid! My husband likes WoW games he likes all kinds of games, really.
Thanks for the list. Its fun, and free. I recently started playing Lord of the Rings Online LOTRO , fell in love with it right away, the crafting is the best i have seen and each character is proficient in 3 professions i. I have finally got a fast computer and a fast internet connection, so can now start playing some of these games. I am new to all of these games and just have a question.
I have been playing TalismanOnline for a while now and want to find something that is about the same. I dont do well with guild wars or pvp.
I want a game I can level on my own and its easy to learn. Can someone help get me in the right direction? I think a game that is most like wow that isn't on this list is Rift. I tried it out about a year ago and was kind of freakishly weirded out how similar they made it to World of Warcraft almost too much But anyway, its a great game, a new expansion is coming out soon, Storm Legion, and should be pretty cool.
Check it out if you haven't already! The game is requires a monthly subscription, but if I remember correctly it is free up to level 20 just like wow: P So try it for free, pay if you want to keep going, drop it if not: I have only really got into WoW but i have played a little bit of eve.
Gates of Andaron isnt too bad. Leveling is quite slow unless you do the quests but in all its like WoW, more or less. Beautiful selection of attractive games.
I am always amazed how convincing graphics are available for computer games now. I still remember times of CGA graphics with four colors and this is really almost virtual reality.
I must say I did really enjoy my time with the game was along time ago though , I might need to start playing it again and consider it for inclusion on this collection of games like WoW. I am actually currently playing it and planning to add it to the page shortly, I don't like adding games to my lenses if I haven't played them even though star wars is an obvious inclusion. Thanks for the comment! I'm surprised that Star Wars: The Old Republic isn't on the list.
There are many others though, such as Eden Eternal. Played wow for 2 months got bored out of it Lord Of The Rings: I started with WOW so I compared everything. Diablo 2 was free of monthly charge and it was ok, wow is pay2play and with time they become so obsessed with the money it kept getting worse and worse, so i don't agree with you on necessity of monthly fees to make the game good. As for the people going full retard you can't avoid it it happens on xbox live, in wow and in lineage as often as in lol for example.
Only problem i see with guild wars 2 so far is the fact that it will be free. Yeah not having to pay is pretty cool. But by having an active account you pay for, you get to a point where you care about it however slightly. This pushes people to act more responsibly and respectfully due to the fact they don't want it banned. Less idiotic childish behavior. All WoW clones or Anime crap except for two. Age of Conan and Runescape.
Plus you forgot Dark age of Camelot. I think that Aion is probably the most like WoW. See 5 more comments. Other product and company names shown may be trademarks of their respective owners.
Star Trek Online in Forsaken World - Website. The Secret World Gameplay. DC Universe Online Gameplay. Never pay a monthly subscription fee again. Guild Wars 2 Gameplay. Western Roleplaying Video Games. Did You Enjoy This Page?
Totally agree with you, WOW is the number one. But I prefer Guild Wars 2. I will have to try some of these. My all time favorite game is Runescape! World of warcraft famous great game and free to play to lvl 20 i think. PC or Mac, etc There is also Kal Online. It's free and is alot like WoW.. I actually like Eden Eternal than any other games on this list.
